am i excited? yeah
am i worried? uhuh
am i scared? VERY!

and it doesnt help that packing has been a bitch! a hard core no nonsense bitch who shud b a NO NO in our society today!

mayb, it could be the indecisive nature of us WOMEN... i mean i would pack the bathroom sink if i could!!!!

dont look at me that way!
doesnt mean that i'm a woman and therefore i'm pre-programmed to know how to deal with this shit!

it's wrong putting me in such a position where i haf to pick and choose which bag to bring, which pair of shoes is good or bad for the COLD BRIT WEATHER!
and clothes.... argh! it's fucking hard packing for a four seasons destination!

omg mum just caught me packing...
n was appalled with the idea that i'm trying to stuff 5 pairs of shoes, 7 pairs of jeans and uncountable tees... sweaters and pullovers not counted yet....

mum shook her head, doubtful that i can stuff all those in and still managed to throw a pinch of sarcasm on her way out...
"you're not going there for a beauty contest... you're there to study!!!!"

pfft...
i'll show her!!!!

ahhhh... manage to shut the damn suitcase close!
(after much effort though... *wipes sweat off*)
i swear packing is a form of exercise, i havent sweat dat much in my life.

mum jus came in and saw the suitcase...
she's amazed... her daughter just pulled a houdini!

alright.... on to the next bag!

my cousin's wife, alicia posted a rather funny post in her blog about bra cups and the reason why alphabets are used to determine the sizes.

in that post,
cup A is for Almost Boobs
cup B is for Barely Boobs
cup C is for Can't Complain
cup D is for Dang
cup E is for Enormous and...
cup F is for Fake

as funny as it was, it actually gt me thinking...
why the alphabets and what do they actually stand for?

there are many sites in the internet (just google it) telling you that Kate Moss is an A, Milla's a B, Halle a C, Jewel a D and Kelly Brook an E...
bt knowing your own bra cup can sometimes be a mystery kinda lk a puzzle to solve!
and dont you hate it when you go bra shopping and the sales assistant walks up to you and ask you for your bra size...
'I'm a errrrr 34B i think' you answer her uncertain...
and she'll look 8 ur bosoms and den gives a high pitch laughter before sayin,
'sayang, i dun think so, u shud b an A!' out loud that the guy at the next store almost dropped the book he was pretending to read.

so to save yourself the embarrassment, here are guidelines how to determine your bra size and all you need is a measuring tape and a calculator jus in case you're erm kinda bad in math-

your bra size is determined by both the band size (eg 32,34,36) and the cup size (A,B,C,D...)

Measuring your band size

there are two ways in which you can measure your band size:-

i) First take your measuring tape and measure your upper chest ( that is right under your armpits and above your breasts)...

eg: so if the measurement shows a 35.3, discard any fractions making it 35. if it is an odd number lk 35, round it up to the next even number making it a 36.
so your band size is 36.

ii) another alternative way is to measure the ribcage just below your breast.

eg: so if the measurement shows a 31.4, again discard the fractions to make it 31.
now the next step is to add 5 to the measurement if your ribcage is an odd number and 4 to your measurement if your ribcage shows an even number. therefore, 31 being an odd number, should be 36 after adding 5 to the measurement.

Measuring your cup size

in order to determine your cup size, you should measure across the fullest part of your breast, starting at the outside of the breast crease, passing the nipple and then to the inside of the crease.
look at the inch shown on your measuring tape to determine your cup size below:
cup A = 7"
cup B = 8"
cup C = 9"
cup D = 10"
cup E/ DD = 11"
cup F/ DDD = 12"

so get your measuring tape and measure away....
here's to a HAPPY BRA SHOPPING EVERYBODY!

Université Part 2: Making the Student Visa

The next step after being accepted into a university abroad is to apply for a Student Visa.

Having chosen Northumbria University, Newcastle as the university to complete my LLB, a UK Student Visa is now a must.

Where and how to apply for a UK Visa can be found here

The busiest time to fix a student visa is from the month of july till august as the centre will usually expect an influx of students applying their visas before commencement of respective courses in september. Therefore, submitting an online application and then booking an appointment online is advisable to avoid long queues.

The British High Commission that processes the visa is rather strict and therefore one must make sure that they have all original supporting documents like financial evidence, unconditional acceptance from the university, past education certificates and etc. as evidence. All documents must be photostated and certified. If possible, all relevant documents like an air ticket itinerary to the UK or accommodation offers should be presented as to leave out any areas of doubt.

a checklist (click me) of what is needed can be found on their official website as guidance.

A recent photograph of yourself is needed for the application.
The photo requirements are as follows:
i) taken against a white background
ii) printed on normal photographic paper
iii) must be 45 mm x 35 mm in size
iv) every distinguishing face feature must be shown without sunglasses, hat or head covering depending on applicant's religious belief.
v) if possible, do not smile! (and so i didnt)... so basically, the picture must look lk this...
i hate passport/ visa pictures! look at my huge forehead and the soon to be balding patch on the top left corner of my head. i look ghostly pale... my eyes are not d same size and my eyebrows... sigh... i had no idea my eyebrows are nt even levelled until i saw the pic! i seriously hate passport pics. one can never look glamorous in this kind of pic... well unless you're janice dickinson of course then i guess some authorities will make that exception.

A recently introduced system called the Biometrics Data is now required from all visa applicants. Biometrics is introduced to address the growing problem of identity theft. Applicants are called into a room where all 10 fingers are digitally scanned and a digital photograph will be taken.
The digital fingerprint scanner will not accept wounded fingers therefore it is important not to injure your fingers before your appointment. Even a papercut might reject you from applying.

Do not fret, it is just your 10 fingers and not your entire arm or hand. So having your right arm plastered with kiddy plasters because of sand fly bites that became septic will not harm your chances of getting your visa processed.

If you live in Malaysia, the UK Visa Application Centre is located in the MCA building, Ampang. It's within walking distance from KLCC therefore the convenience should you need to do last minute banking or you discover you lack certain documents or your photograph do not meet the standard requirements. All can be done in KLCC itself as i gt my photograph taken there as well as my sponsor's bank statement certified.

Though it is not stated bt it is best that you dress semi-formal to your appointment. Snickers can pass as semi-formal and it is far more advisable to use them as footwear rather than uncomfortable two and a half inch heels. Trust me, walking from the MCA Building to KLCC with heels can be torturing...

and thanks to that walk... i could hardly walk the next day and my lil toe had to be plastered :(

Université Part 1: Writing a Good Personal Statement

31/01/08

many can relate to this scenario where everything was goin smoothly until u reach the part...

"Write a Personal Statement with a minimum of 250 words (in English)"

and your mind goes blank for a second. What happen to filling up a simple application form and not worrying about writing a mini bio data about yourself. A personal statement... how can i sell myself and at the same time keep it interesting that the person reading it wants to know more? my life isnt that interesting... how can i stand out n be unique? should i write solely about my achievements or should i include failures that made me a stronger person and do i know how to stop when i have written enough? dilemmas after dilemmas...

Susan Hiraki, EOPS Director, Las Positas College to the rescue... here are her top 9 tips for writing a good personal statement...

1. Before beginning the essay, think of your life in a global way. What have been the accomplishments, crises, obstacles related to your education? Take some notes and don’t worry about the organization of these random thoughts. Make sure you begin this process early enough to gather useful information. Talk to your family and friends about how they view you because they may see your achievements more clearly than you do.

2. It is appropriate to talk about personal crises, but your essay should tie these in to how you overcame them and what this has to do with education. For example, you may cite an accident that left you disabled. You may want to elaborate on the recovery process and how it contributed to who you are now and why education has become more important to you because of this traumatic experience. The reader should get a sense of your stamina, resilience, creativity, and other personal resources that would lead him/her to believe you could draw on these reserves to be successful in achieving your goals.

3. Your essay should have an introduction, a middle, and a conclusion. Begin by introducing yourself and what you intend to say, the middle should, in a more comprehensive form, reflect what your introduction said you would discuss; and the conclusion should sum up all the information in a logical progression. You could decide to write your introduction last so that it can be truly specific in its purpose.

4. It is not necessary to use long and complicated words. If you do, make sure you are using them appropriately and with the correct spelling. It is more effective to use ordinary words in clear statements.

5. When you begin writing your essay, do not worry about using all the correct words and phrases because this may block your thinking and writing. Take a deep breath and let yourself feel the freedom of your own ability to express yourself. Keep writing without stopping to search for “just the right word” and skip over anything that doesn’t come to you readily. Don’t worry about spelling, content, or correct English usage as it will keep you from saying some important things about yourself.

6. After you have written a first draft, go back over it to be sure that you have responded to the prompt or the instructions. Make a good case for why you are unique and how your experiences will help you with your college education. Four-year schools expect you to be mature enough to extrapolate lessons from experiences. What unique contributions will you make as a student and as an alumnus? It would be a good idea to answer this question in all of your personal statements regardless of where you apply because it indicates vision and self esteem.

7. When you are ready to write your final draft, go back to numbers 2 through 7. Check for spelling, grammar, and logical, linear thought progression. Does everything in the conclusion relate to your educational goals?

8. Again, do this exercise early enough so that you will have time to write the essay, as well as time for other people to proof it and offer you some feedback.

9. If this feels overwhelming, go back to number 5 and take a deep breath. Remember, the subject matter is you, and you are the greatest authority on this topic. Write from your heart, and worry about all the intellectual concerns when you are working on the finished product.

there are helpful samples of personal statements on the net too. with all the tips and samples, writing a personal statement might end up being fun.
